Weigh in

Minus 3 pounds. I’ve been a little under the weather this week with sniffles, sneezing and a scratchy throat. Not much appetite, either. If I didn’t feel so crappy, I might consider it an unfair advantage.
We won’t get a report from Sue this week as she is in Arizona watching and playing golf.

PJ's Lasix

Today I took Paulette to the Pacific Laser surgery.    She had successful lasix surgery on her eyes.  She can see without glasses or contacts.  She is now sleeping at home.  The doctor said it was perfect and she was very excited.  She is very excited.  More later.

Trip

FYI
"The Good Lord willing and the crik don't rise" (don't know who I am quoting) I will be going to Phoenix tomorrow. My friend, Donna, and I are going to watch the LPGA on Friday, play golf a couple of days and visit with Donna's family. I get to go this year because Denny started a new job and didn't have any vacation.

I will skip weigh in this week and hope for no more that a couple of pounds gain while I am gone. Good luck to all of you.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Janell on her first place trophy at her Toastmasters contest yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed the process even though I got roped into being the backup timer.

Iris (Frey) Doolittle also came to watch. We had lunch and a great visit after the contest.

Waterboy

Our waterboy died last week. When we went to grade school at Edgington, a one-room school, Donny Neuhaus carried our water. He lived with his parents and brother, Larry, on a farm right next to the school. Every morning and every noon he would carry a bucket of water from their farm to the school. He was handicapped. I never knew just what exactly the problem was. He couldn't talk, only grunted, but he could laugh and understood when someone was teasing him. When he brought the water at noon, he would stay and play whatever game we were playing. All the kids knew to take it easy on him and not get to the hide-and-seek base before he did. He did not stand straight upright when he walked, but did not seem to hurt anywhere. I don't know if he ever went to school. Back then handicapped kids didn't have the same chances that they do now. I think he spent the last few years in the care center. He was 72.

weigh in & news

My hard work finally paid off, I lost 2.2 this week. I still have a nagging cough from the cold I had 2 weeks ago wish it would go away.

I got my first ss check last week and have gone to 4 days a week at CF. I will have Fridays off unless something comes up that I have to do that day. Then I will take another day. Three-day weekends - everybodies dream?

Jerry has been home all week with pain in his knees. The arthritis is really giving him a bad time. Dr. gave him cortisone shots to help, so hoping he will be able to go back to work soon. He has decided to sell his equipment, but has to keep working until he finds a buyer. Anybody want to buy a truck?
